Unlocking Gender Balance in Privately Held Companies

Webcasts of Events

Watch the latest Balance for Better Business webcast on Unlocking Gender Balance in Privately Held Companies.  IoD Ireland CEO Caroline Spillane CDir, joined Minister for Enterprise Peter Burke TD, Andrew Keating, CFO, Musgrave Group, and Declan Hughes, Secretary General, Department of Enterprise Tourism and Employment, on this discussion. They were also joined by Balance for Better Business Co-Chairs Carol Andrews and Bernard Byrne.

The discussion focused on ‘Unlocking Gender Balances in Privately Held Companies’ and addressed key steps to realising gender balanced leadership. The discussion also explored the new Balance for Better Business research on privately held companies and identified several strategies for improving gender balance. The new research reveals privately led companies employ just over 70% of the workforce. In 2023, women held 22% of board positions in large Irish board seats in large Irish-owned private companies, compared to 39% in ISEQ20 firms. Balance for Better Business is pushing for an improvement on this to 40%.

IoD Ireland is a member of the Balance for Better Business Advisory Group and will continue to support Balance for Better Business in promoting the importance of DE&I on boards.
