Deepest Sympathy to the Family of Dan Flinter

IoD Ireland was deeply saddened to hear that former Council Member Dan Flinter has passed away.

Dan Flinter RIP

Dan was an experienced Chair, Chairing boards such the Irish National Stud and Gardens, PM Group Holdings, the ISPCC and The Irish Times. He was also an experienced Non-Executive Director, sitting on boards such as Dairygold, Duolog Holdings, Venture Capital Investment Managers, and the National Gallery of Ireland. 

In the mid-2000s, he was appointed to the then government’s Tourism Strategy Implementation Group and to an IT advisory group established by the then telecoms regulator, ComReg.He also chaired the governing authority of NUI Maynooth (now Maynooth University). 

He started his executive career with IDA Ireland, and went on to become Chief executive of Forbairt, a forerunner of Enterprise Ireland, which focused on developing indigenous industry. He was the first head of the newly formed agency from its establishment in 1998 until his decision to retire early from the public sector in 2003.
