ecoDA Press Release

The European Confederation of Directors’ Associations (ecoDa) is pleased to welcome the Irish Institute of Directors (IoD) Ireland as a full member and the Cyprus Institute of  Directors & Corporate Governance (CyIoDCG) as a candidate member for a two-year
period.

The fact that two institutes at different stages of development are joining ecoDa reflects the diversity and dynamism of the European governance landscape and highlights the growing importance of connecting directors across borders.

Maria Pierdicchi, Chair of ecoDa, stated:

“European directors may operate in different governance environments, but many of the challenges they face are shared. Welcoming both an established institute from Ireland and a newly created institute from Cyprus demonstrates the value of bringing different national
perspectives together in a European community”,

The Irish Institute of Directors has supported directors, board members and business leaders for more than 30 years through education, research, advocacy and professional development.

Dr Caroline Spillane CDir, CEO, Institute of Directors Ireland, noted:

“Ireland’s EU Presidency makes this a particularly timely moment to strengthen the links between Irish and European director communities. Through ecoDa, we can share Ireland’s experience, learn from our European peers and contribute to the debate on the future of board leadership and corporate governance”

Established in March of 2026, the Cyprus Institute of Directors & Corporate Governance represents directors across Cyprus, from listed and regulated companies to SMEs, family businesses and state-owned enterprises. It aims to promote the development of the profession of directorship and good governance in Cyprus.

Kyriakos Kokkinos, Chairman of the Board, Cyprus Institute of Directors & Corporate Governance, noted

“Joining ecoDa at this early stage gives us the opportunity to connect Cypriot directors with the European governance community, bringing our perspective to the European debate and learning from the experience of our peers",
