Maintaining Trust: Managing Fraud and Reputational Risk

Iarla Mongey is a highly experienced communications and public affairs leader with more than 25 years’ experience spanning senior government roles and strategic consultancy. A Director at Q4PR since 2017, Iarla advises organisations and senior leaders on corporate communications, government affairs, public policy, stakeholder engagement and crisis management. Previously, he spent almost 12 years as Director of Public Affairs at Drury | Porter Novelli. Earlier in their career, Iarla served as Head of Government Information Services and Deputy Government Press Secretary at the Department of the Taoiseach, having also worked as political spokesperson to a former Tánaiste. This combination of senior government and advisory experience provides Iarla with valuable insight into navigating complex communications, managing reputational risk and building trust with stakeholders.

Robert Burke is a Partner in the Risk Consulting team at Forvis Mazars, providing governance, risk advisory and internal audit services. He also plays a key role in the delivery of the firm’s grant audit services, advising both grant-awarding bodies and recipients in the public and private sectors. Robert is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and holds a Diploma in Risk Management, Internal Audit and Compliance. He has more than 17 years’ experience delivering assurance, risk management, and internal control engagements, including the management of co-sourced and outsourced internal audit functions. Robert works closely with boards, audit and risk committees, executive leadership teams and senior stakeholders to strengthen governance structures, enhance risk management capabilities and support the development of robust internal control frameworks.

Pat Lordan is a consultant and adviser specialising in economic crime, fraud, financial intelligence and cybersecurity. He previously served as a Detective Chief Superintendent with An Garda Síochána, where he led the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau and Ireland’s Financial Intelligence Unit. From 2015 to 2020, Pat was also responsible for the Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau, giving him extensive experience of complex financial and cyber-enabled crime, emerging threats, regulatory engagement and multi-agency investigations. His earlier senior leadership roles included Detective Superintendent for the Eastern Region and District Officer in Thurles. Since retiring from An Garda Síochána in 2023, Pat has provided independent consulting and advisory services, drawing on his considerable operational and leadership experience to support organisations in understanding and managing fraud, financial crime and cyber risk. He brings a valuable practical perspective on how organisations can strengthen their controls, prepare for emerging threats and respond effectively when incidents occur.

Teri Kelly is the Co-Founder and CEO of Total Reputation, a reputation risk management platform that helps organisations build and protect their reputation. A former Director at the Law Society, she has more than 25 years’ experience leading strategic communications, brand and marketing across professional bodies, financial services, technology and energy. Teri holds a Master’s in Political Science and is a graduate of the Institute of Directors’ Chartered Director Programme. Teri is a member of the National Council of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland and a Board Member of the Ireland Alberta Trade Association. She regularly advises boards and leadership teams on reputation risk, communications governance and stakeholder strategy.
