D&O Insurance Demystified

Webinar

Directors & Officers (D&O) Insurance: What Every Director Needs to Know

30 April 2026 9:30am

Join us for our upcoming webinar, 'D&O Insurance Demystified’. Taking place from 9:30am - 10:30am on Thursday, 30th April 2026.  As part of our remit to make Ireland an exemplar of corporate governance, booking for this webinar is open to members and non-members.

Directors today operate in an increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment, where personal accountability and scrutiny have never been higher. Understanding how Directors & Officers (D&O) Insurance works – and what protection it truly provides – is essential for anyone serving on a board.

Our expert speakers Edwina Ryan, Managing Director, Aon Ireland, and Kieran Dillon, Director, Financial & Professional Services, Aon Ireland, will provide directors with a clear understanding of the purpose, structure and real-world implications of D&O insurance. The session will explain how D&O insurance interacts with directors’ legal duties, where protections exist, and where potential gaps may leave directors personally exposed.

During this webinar, directors will learn:

  • The legal basis and rationale for D&O insurance and how it differs from company indemnification and personal liability
  • What D&O insurance covers and why it is essential for protecting directors personally
  • The key elements, terminology and cost drivers of D&O policies
  • Important policy features, exclusions and limitations that affect real-world protection
  • Common misunderstandings and pitfalls when reviewing or purchasing D&O cover
  • How the claims process works, including notification duties and common mistakes to avoid
  • The impact of regulatory developments on D&O policies and coverage considerations

This session is designed for current and aspiring directors, board members and senior executives who want to ensure they understand the protections available to them - and the areas where careful attention is required.
