Learn from our panel of experts on the key cyber security risks and issues all directors and leaders should know. This in-person event will take place on Wednesday, 13th March 2024, at The Westbury Hotel, Dublin 2.

Guest speakers include: Dr. Valerie Lyons, Company Director, and Chief Operating Officer, BH Consulting; Barry Scannell, Consultant, William Fry LLP, and member of the Irish Government's Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council; and Kevin Buckley, Senior Development Advisor, Enterprise Ireland and Board Member of Cyber Ireland.

Dr. Valerie Lyons

Dr. Valerie Lyons

Company Director, and Chief Operating Officer, BH Consulting.

Author of the best-seller ‘The Privacy Leader Compass’ and included in the ‘Top 100 Women in Cybersecurity in Europe’, Dr. Valerie Lyons is an accomplished and driven cybersecurity and privacy leadership expert.

Her career spans over 30 years - working in both cybersecurity and privacy teams. She has worked for several global organisations, such as IBM, KPMG, and ABB, and served as Head of Information Security Risk in KBC Bank for almost 15 years.  Dr. Lyons is the Chief Operations Officer in BH Consulting since 2015. She has an in-depth knowledge of European data protection law and practices, and frequently presents at renowned international security and privacy conferences (such as RSA, COSAC, ISACA and CPDP).

She has also lectured in Dublin City University on Privacy, Cybersecurity and Digital Ethics. In 2022, Dr Lyons was awarded a PhD in Information Privacy for her research into Privacy in the ESG suite. She also holds a Masters in Business Leadership, along with a post-graduate diploma in Executive Coaching. She is a certified CISSP for almost 25 years, and is also qualified as a CDPSE and CIPP/E. She is an honorary fellow of The Irish Information Security Forum (IISF) since 2004 and a member of the European Data Protection Board’s pool of experts. 

Barry Scannell

Consultant, William Fry LLP

Barry Scannell is a Consultant in William Fry’s Technology department, and member of the Irish Government's Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council. He specialises in artificial intelligence (AI), copyright, IP, technology law and data protection.

Barry is the former Director of Legal Affairs & Regulatory Compliance of one of Ireland’s leading music organisations, and has specialist knowledge and expertise in copyright law, with very strong music industry experience, particularly in the area of music licensing and media contracts.

Barry is one of the foremost experts in Ireland on issues relating to artificial intelligence (AI), particularly regarding copyright, currently researching a PhD on the subject. He has Chaired and sat on various international music industry committees dealing with AI, data protection and copyright. He currently sits on the Law Society of Ireland’s IP & Technology Committee.
 

Kevin Buckley

Kevin Buckley

Senior Development Advisor, Enterprise Ireland and Board Member of Cyber Ireland

Kevin is a member of Enterprise Ireland’s High Potential Start-Up team where he specialises in equity investment into cybersecurity companies and the subsequent scaling of these businesses in global markets. 

Kevin has worked in Ireland, Germany and Italy with Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland focusing on business development of Irish companies and the attraction of foreign direct investment into Ireland as well as in the engineering industry in the private sector.

Kevin is the EI representative on the advisory board of Cyber Ireland and IADT Media Cube looking to positively influence the development of the Irish ecosystem to facilitate the growth of fast growing technology sectors in Ireland.
