Join us for our upcoming event examining stakeholder engagement as a board-level governance responsibility. Taking place from 8:00am to 9:45am on Wednesday, 11th November 2026, at the Westbury Hotel, Dublin 2.
Boards make decisions that can have a profound effect on people’s lives, livelihoods and confidence in organisations. Whether the issue is a major infrastructure project, the delivery of essential services or the treatment of customers by a financial institution, trust can be damaged when people feel unheard, poorly informed or unfairly treated.
Our speakers include: Fiona Ross, Chair of the MetroLink Programme Steering Committee and an experienced Chair and Non-Executive Director; Padraic Kissane, Founding Member and Director of the Irish Banking Culture Board and Principal of Padraic Kissane Financial Services; Laura Magahy CDir, Head of Public Sector Consulting at Forvis Mazars; and Frank Curran, Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. The event will be moderated by Dr Caroline Spillane CDir, Chief Executive Officer of IoD Ireland.
Using examples from financial services, housing, transport, water, energy and public services, this panel will consider how boards can ensure that concerns are heard early, that management provides a candid assessment of stakeholder sentiment and emerging risks, and that people affected by decisions are treated fairly.
The discussion will also explore how boards should balance the interests of different stakeholders with the wider public interest, and how organisations can make legitimate and defensible decisions when consensus cannot be reached.
The IoD Briefing Series: Designed for Directors, sponsored by Forvis Mazars.

Padraic Kissane Principal, Padraic Kissane Financial Services | Founding Member and Director, Irish Banking Culture Board
Padraic Kissane is a Financial Advisor and Principal of Padraic Kissane Financial Services, with nearly four decades of experience in the Irish financial services industry. He is also a founding member and current director with the Irish Banking Culture Board. Widely recognised for his work on tracker mortgage issues, Padraic has been a prominent advocate for consumers affected by banking failures. His work has included representing consumer interests through media engagement and appearances before the Oireachtas Finance Committee. Drawing on his experience of both financial services and consumer advocacy, Padraic brings a distinctive perspective to corporate governance, accountability and public trust. He believes that boards must understand the consequences of their decisions for the people ultimately affected by them, and that the true strength of an organisation's trustworthiness is revealed when its actions are challenged. How organisations respond in those moments can strengthen public confidence or undermine trust that may take years to rebuild.
