About IoD

The Institute of Directors in Ireland is the representative body for senior, strategic business professionals in Ireland. Members include chief executives, chairpersons, board members, senior executives and partners of large national and international entities in Ireland. 

Affiliated to the Institute of Directors worldwide, members of the Institute of Directors in Ireland can avail of a large number of members' benefits at home and when travelling abroad on business. The Institute of Directors is an authoritative source of information on developments in company law and regulations, as well as the field of corporate governance as it is applied in Ireland. European developments in these vital areas are also monitored. Irish company law is undergoing a radical transformation through the work of the Company Law Review Group (CLRG) on which IoD Ireland is ably represented.

Chartered Director

IOD Ireland is pleased to announce the arrival of the Chartered Director qualification to Ireland. For the first time, IoD Ireland is in a position to offer courses leading to this prestigious qualification. Further information is available under the Director Development section of this website.

IoD Ireland and the Stephen's Green Hibernian Club

IoD Ireland has been accepted as a limited Corporate Member of the Stephen's Green Hibernian Club. A limited range of facilities are available to IoD Ireland members at the club.

IoD Ireland and Airport Executive Lounges

IoD Ireland members have free access to the Anna Livia Lounge in Dublin Airport and the Jack Lynch Executive Lounge in Cork Airport. There are 16 Executive Lounges in the United Kingdom airports and three in Europe.

The Boardroom Centre, Non-Executive Director Search

The Institute of Directors includes the Boardroom Centre, an authoritative source of information and advice for non-executive directors. The Boardroom Centre maintains a confidential database of senior, experienced, business professionals who are available for appointment as non-executive directors. Many companies appoint non-executive directors through the auspices of the Boardroom Centre because of the broad range of people available through the database and to show demonstrable and clear independence in the selection of of their non-executive talent.

Ireland's Premier Business Network

The Institute of Directors is Ireland's premier business network. A large number of Directors' lunches and dinners, as well as Strategic Business Briefings are held throughout the year, facilitating members' interaction in an informal manner, in a business context. We work closely with our colleagues in IoD Northern Ireland to arrange North/South business events.
