What people are saying

“A very helpful and worthwhile workshop by the IoD. Directors need to keep learning, trying and continuously improving to achieve best practice in the interests of our charities. Great insights, tips and nuggets of info were given by the participants as well as the presenter.”
Carol Fawsitt, Solicitor (retired), Chair of The Ark and Co-Founder Silent Voices

“This was an excellent workshop.  There was a wide range of different stakeholders sharing their experiences in the charity sector under the tutelage and guidance of the super Marie Collins.”
Dominic Rigby, Dom Rigby Consultancy Limited

“This is a very useful workshop for anyone already holding charity board roles or those considering bringing their skills and experience to add value to this sector. The content, format, and presentation provides a great learning environment and encourages open discussion and sharing of experience among participants.”
Jillian Mahon Independent Consultant/Advisor and Board Director

“This course is an essential for those who are, or may be considering becoming, a Trustee of a charity. It provides great insights into the roles, responsibilities and challenges of a Trustee and provides a toolkit to develop and promote great governance in any organisation.”
Paul Owens Chair City Of Dublin YMCA

“The IoD Leadership and Governance for Charities workshop is excellent for current or soon-to-be Trustees. A wide range and breadth of areas covered. Marie Collins adeptly shared her expert knowledge and drew on the group's experience to bring us from policy to practice.”
Jillian van Turnhout, Trustee, Irish Girl Guides CLG and One in Four CLG

“I found the workshop very thought-provoking, informative and enjoyable, and thought that Marie Collins did a brilliant job of achieving her goals while encouraging interaction by the participants.”
David McKenna, Company Secretary, Ballymun Youth Action Project

“This was a most enjoyable and informative workshop covering an area that is very much in the news at present - good governance in charities or perhaps good governance missing in some charities. Marie Collins covered a wide range of topics in a very easy manner that allowed all taking part to become very involved in the discussions that were encouraged. So the subject matter took on a very real aspect. I would recommend this workshop to anyone that has an involvement or interest in the charity sector.”
Eugene Noble, Director, Orange Business

“I thought that this workshop was an excellent use of my time, it was well delivered, addressing key issues which most boards will inevitably have to tackle. It highlighted core principles, some practical and ethical dilemmas, and provided a safe environment to tease out any areas of concern. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who's role includes supporting a Board of Trustees, or anyone who is already on a board or considering joining aboard.”
David Hickson, Financial Controller, Community Foundation Ireland
