Lunch Bites @ the IoD - The Challenges and Complexities of Working Within the Irish Sports Sector

The Irish Sports Sector is a complex environment in which to work or govern. However, it is a hugely rewarding sector.

Sarah Keane, Chief Executive Officer, Swim Ireland and President, Olympic Federation of Ireland will discuss these challenges and complexities in her forthcoming presentation at our next Lunch Bites event entitled, 'The Challenges and Complexities of Working Within the Irish Sports Sector'.

This event takes place on Thursday, 16th May, at 12:45pm in the National Concert Hall, Dublin 2.

Registration and sandwiches at 12:45pm sharp, with discussion and Q&A from 13:00pm -13:50pm.

Sarah Keane

Chief Executive Officer, Swim Ireland and President, Olympic Federation of Ireland

Sarah is the first Chief Executive Officer of Swim Ireland - the National Governing Body for Swimming, Water Polo, Diving and associated Aquatic Disciplines on the island of Ireland. She has held this position for over ten years. She is a qualified solicitor and worked with Matheson Solicitors, a leading Irish law firm, prior to taking up her CEO position with Swim Ireland. 

In 2018 she was appointed the Chair of the EOC’s Gender Equality in Sport Commission and is a member of the newly established ANOC (The Association of National Olympic Councils – 206 nations members) Gender Equality Commission. Sarah was elected as the first female President of the Olympic Federation of Ireland (OFI) in February 2017. She represented Ireland at the European Olympic Council’s (EOC) Women in Sport & Leadership Talent Event in Poland in April 2015.

She is a former member of both the Board of the Federation of Irish Sport (the umbrella body for sporting organisations in Ireland) and the Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel. Sarah is also a board member of Ireland Active.

Her qualifications include an Honours Degree in Law, a Masters in Commercial Law, and Diplomas in both Corporate Management and Financial Management. She graduated from the Common Purpose Leadership Programme in 2015, and achieved her Diploma in Company Direction/Governance from the Institute of Directors in 2016.
