We are pleased to announce that Caitriona Perry, RTÉ news anchor and former Washington Correspondent will address 'The State of the Union: The United (and Divided) States of America in the Trump Era' in the first event in the Lunch Bites @ The IoD Series in 2018. The Lunch Bites @ The IoD Series is kindly sponsored by First Names Group.

Caitriona will discuss the reasons behind the election of Donald Trump; the first year of the Trump administration; the America First World View - what it means for the US, for Ireland and for the rest of the world and what is likely to happen in the 2018 midterms and the 2020 Presidential election.

Registration and sandwiches at 12.45pm sharp with discussion and Q&A from 1.00pm-1.50pm.

RTÉ news anchor and former Washington Correspondent

Caitriona Perry is a multi-award-winning journalist and broadcaster, and the current co-anchor of the flagship RTE Six One News programme on RTE1.

Prior to this, Caitriona was appointed RTE's Washington Correspondent in 2013. Caitriona details the trials and tribulations of the 2016 Presidential campaign circuit in her book 'In America: Tales from Trump Country' which was published to great acclaim in 2017, the same year she was named Irish Tatler Irish Media Woman of the Year.

Prior to working in America, she held various posts as an anchor, reporter and programme editor within the organisation. Prior to joining RTE in 2007, Caitriona worked in the Irish national radio stations Today FM (legal affairs correspondent and Deputy Head of News) and NewsTalk (reporter and producer).

She has a first class honours degree in Journalism and a Masters Degree in International Relations both awarded by Dublin City University, which named her as one of its Distinguished Alumni in 2015.

Caitriona has won several awards for her journalism, including multiple National Justice Media Awards for her television work and a PPI National Radio Award for her radio news reporting. She speaks French, German, Spanish and Irish.
