John Ryan

CEO, Great Place to Work

John joined Great Place to Work Ireland in January 2011 as both CEO and shareholder. Since then he has overseen an expansion that has seen the Irish affiliate acquire a significant shareholding in the UK entity, with further international acquisitions planned. The Irish business, which had previously been solely focused on assessing organisations, has now developed a very strong consultancy division aimed at helping organisations maximise their people investment. John is a ‘master trainer’ and has been involved in a number of global transformation projects.

Originally a broadcast journalist, John's background initially was in sales and marketing, where after completing his studies in Dublin City University, he joined Golden Pages where he lead sales and training divisions during a period of double digit growth, later establishing his own training consultancy delivering programmes to multinational clients across the globe. A regular media contributor, he is seen as a thought leader and a key commentator on workplace issues.

Outside of business John also has a keen interest in politics and is currently Leas Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council and a director of the Mermaid Arts Centre.
