In respect of the disruption caused by storm Ophelia, the Workshop on Understanding the Role and Responsibilities of the Board, its Chair and Directors, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 17th October 2017 in the IMI in Sandyford, will go ahead as scheduled.

Chartered Director
John Smyth is a corporate governance specialist and a former President of the Institute of Directors, as well as being a Chartered Director. He has delivered quality director training courses for companies in Ireland and overseas. Using his broad experience, he has added value to companies through constructive critical contributions at board and committee meetings.
From 1992 to 2000 he was Group Chief Executive with First National Building Society/First Active plc. He is an independent board member of various organisations including IPB Insurance, Ostia Software Solutions and Department of Education, Northern Ireland where he is Chairman of the Audit Committee. John is also a member of the advisory board of Risk Management International.
IoD workshops may be eligible for CPD, including Chartered Director CPD, please check with your relevant professional body. IoD workshops are admissible as part of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) CPD Scheme and would count towards “Active” learning. Workshops may also be eligible for CPD with Chartered Accountants Ireland, the Law Society of Ireland and the Institute of Banking. Places can only be confirmed on receipt of full payment. Cancellations will be accepted if received in writing by Monday, 9th October 2017. However, there will be a 50% cancellation charge. All fees are forfeited thereafter. Workshop fees are also non-transferrable.
