• The Profit & Loss Account - the accruals concept, differences between profit & cash, gross profit v operating profit v net profit, “EBITDA”                               
• How the Balance Sheet, P&L and Cash Flow Statement are inter-related - simulation of the key financial elements of a business plan     
• Interpreting the accounts - introducing ratio analysis - essential principles of ratio analysis, key profitability, liquidity, working capital, gearing and investment ratios
• Case Study - using ratios to analyse a real, troubled business
• Real Annual Accounts - Variations in formats & terminology, examples of extracts from private and ISEQ companies 
• Understanding the business media

Bob Semple - Company Director, Facilitator and Lecturer, recently completed a 36-year career with PwC in Dublin and Toronto. He spent 26 years as a Partner and more recently he had responsibility for the Governance, Risk and Compliance practice. A Chartered Accountant by training, Bob holds a Diploma in Company Direction (IoD) and a Diploma in Corporate Governance.

Bob is an experienced facilitator and an expert user of electronic collaboration systems. He provides consulting services mainly in the areas of corporate governance, board evaluation, and risk management and lectures for a number of bodies including the IMI, UCD and The Law Society of Ireland.

IoD workshops may be eligible for CPD, including Chartered Director CPD, please check with your relevant professional body. IoD workshops are admissible as part of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) CPD Scheme and would count towards “Active” learning. Workshops may also be eligible for CPD with Chartered Accountants Ireland, the Law Society of Ireland, the Institute of Banking, and the LIA. Places can only be confirmed on receipt of full payment. Cancellations will be accepted if received in writing by Tuesday, 13th March 2018. However, there will be a 50% cancellation charge. All fees are forfeited thereafter. Workshop fees are also non-transferrable.
