IoD Marks 100 Chartered Directors in Ireland

News

We are delighted to announce that we have reached a key milestone of 100 Chartered Directors in Ireland. Six business leaders have joined the ranks of Chartered Directors in recent days including: Sylvia McNeece, Senior Consultant and Company Secretary, Headford Capital Pte Ltd, Cathal Kelly, CEO, RCSI, Pat O’Mahony, Deputy Secretary General, Head of Governance and Performance, Department of Health, Mary Brennan, Independent Non-Executive Director, Brian Lehane, Chief Financial Officer, Aon Insurance Managers (Dublin) Ltd and Caitriona Somers, Non-Executive Director, Insurance Institute of Ireland.

First launched in Ireland in 2008, the Chartered Director Programme has seen hundreds of participants from the most senior levels of Irish business undertake the Programme, with the latest three cohorts recently commencing in January. As the most sought after director qualification in the country, participants complete a Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction, following which they may go forward for admission as a registered Chartered Director, involving a rigorous process comprising the completion of a portfolio and an interview.

Commenting, Maura Quinn, IoD Chief Executive, said:

“We are thrilled to celebrate 100 Chartered Directors in Ireland and to see such a broad mix of senior business leaders attaining the qualification. The wide success of the Chartered Director Programme has exceeded all expectations and it is testament to its quality that the Programme continues to be in such high demand with five cohorts commencing in 2016. I would encourage all those who have attained the Diploma in Company Direction to take the next step to becoming fully Chartered.”

Places will shortly be offered to those who have submitted an expression of interest form for the next available cohort of the Programme, Cohort 34, which will commence in September 2016. Interested candidates in future cohorts should submit an expression of interest form to Sheila Byrne by email to sbyrne@iodireland.ie or call 01 411 0010 for further information.
