Lunch Bites @ the IoD: Implications of 'The Green Wave' on the Irish Political Landscape

Eamon Ryan TD is the leader of the Green Party and has been a member of Dáil Éireann since 2002.

In this Lunch Bites @ the IoD event, Deputy Ryan will share his views and insights on the ‘green wave of thinking’ that he believes reached Ireland during the local and European elections in May 2019.

He will also discuss the implications this may have for the future Irish political landscape.

Green Party Leader, and TD for Dublin Bay South

Eamon Ryan TD was elected to represent Dublin Bay South in the 2016 General Election and is the leader of the Green Party. Deputy Ryan has been a member of Dáil Éireann since 2002. He previously served as Government Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources. 

In recent years, Deputy Ryan has also worked for European climate organisation, E3G, and chaired the digital policy group in the Institute of International and European Affairs. He was the founding chairperson of the Dublin Cycling Campaign and began his political career as a Dublin City Councillor for the Rathgar – Rathmines ward.  

Deputy Ryan studied commerce in UCD, and managed a marketing course in the university’s School of Business. In the late 1980s, he founded a cycling tourism company called Irish Cycling Safaris, and in 1996 won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
