Join us for this IoD Evening Briefing, with Shirley Comerford, Chief Executive Officer of the Public Appointments Service. In the course of her presentation, Shirley will address the State Board recruitment process, and what potential applicants should be mindful of before they submit their application.

Chief Executive Officer, Public Appointments Service
Shirley Comerford is the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Appointments Service. The Public Appointments Service is the centralised provider of recruitment, assessment and selection services for the Civil Service, Local Authorities, the Health Service Executive, An Garda Síochana and other public bodies. The Public Appointments Service, through its website stateboards.ie provides an open, efficient and effective gateway and process to identify high calibre potential appointees for consideration by Ministers for appointments to State Boards.
Shirley is an experienced HR executive with significant senior management experience working effectively in both operational and strategic roles across a range of sectors. She spent a number of years in the UK and Australia, working in the education and healthcare sectors. On return to Ireland, she worked in the Irish healthcare system, and then as Head of Strategic Human Resources in the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER).
Shirley holds a degree in Human Resource Management, as well as professional diplomas in both Corporate Governance and Strategy, and Innovation and Change, from the UCD Smurfit School.
