In this evening briefing, Gervaise Slowey CDir, Independent Non-Executive Director and Harry Lorton, Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman, will explore how to become board-ready, and highlight the key things you need to think about before you join a board.

Gervaise Slowey is an Independent Non-Executive Director and serves on the boards of Ulster Bank, Eason Plc, the International Rice Research Institute, and the Institute of International and European Affairs. 

Gervaise is one of Ireland’s leading business women with a proven track record in business transformation and growth across international markets. She has built a reputation as a consumer focused and highly strategic operator, with strong leadership and change management skills.

Gervaise was Chief Executive and Board Director of Communicorp Group Ltd from 2012 - 2016, one of the largest independent media groups in Ireland, UK and Eastern Europe. Prior to that she was Global Client Director for Ogilvy Worldwide, a leading communication services agency with over 25,000 employees where she managed one of their key businesses across Europe, Asia, and Africa. 

Harry Lorton is Chairman of Bank of Ireland Mortgage Bank, of Independent Trustee Company Limited, of Johnson & Perrott Motor Group and of the Supervisory Committee at Royal Liver Assurance Sub-Fund, part of the Royal London Group.

Harry was educated at CBC, Cork, at Trinity College Dublin, and at Harvard Business School. He is a Certified Bank Director and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, and of the Institute of Banking.

Harry has worked for over 30 years in the banking industry in Ireland, including 11 years as CEO of Cork & Limerick Savings Bank, TSB Bank and Permanent TSB.
