The Irish pharmacy market has completely changed in the last ten years with further consolidation inevitable. This has been as a direct result of a wide variety of challenges faced by Irish pharmacies and follows extensive cuts to pharmaceutical drug prices and to the reimbursement of services to pharmacies by the Health Service Executive.

Oonagh O’Hagan, Managing Director of the Meagher's Pharmacy Group, will share how she has adapted her business model to overcome these challenges and how Meagher's continues to grow through the leadership of a customer-centric strategy and embracing a new digital world.

Oonagh O’Hagan is the owner and Managing Director of the Meagher’s Pharmacy Group in Dublin which she has grown from one to eight progressive pharmacies plus a thriving online store meaghers.ie employing over 100 people. Meagher’s has won countless awards within the world of pharmacy and has been named as one of Ireland’s Deloitte Best Managed Companies for the third year in a row as well as being a finalist and Irish Champion in the European Business Awards.

Oonagh is passionate about retail and is a board member and outgoing chairperson of Retail Excellence Ireland, Ireland’s largest retail representative body.

Oonagh is highly regarded within the pharmacy market. She is the acting chair of the Preliminary Proceedings Committee in the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, and she sits on the wholesale advisory board of United Drug Healthcare Group.

Oonagh also contributes to the advancement of Ireland’s top third level colleges, holding positions in both Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and in Trinity College Dublin helping both colleges to shape their strategic direction.

Oonagh was named Image Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year for 2016 and is a Lead Entrepreneur in the Going For Growth programme which supports female entrepreneurs to achieve their goals and grow their businesses.
