We are delighted to invite you to join our first in-person Briefing since 2020, with Jim Power, Economist and Media Commentator, on Thursday, 17th February, in The Westbury Hotel. In this event, Jim will present a session titled the 'Global and Domestic Challenges and Opportunities in 2022'.
 
Jim will discuss the key domestic and international economic and political trends and events that will shape our lives in 2022 and beyond. Please note, there will be a facilitated Q&A after Jim's presentation.

Registration

Registration will open from 07:30 on Thursday, 17th February, with the event starting promptly at 08:00, and finishing at 09:00. Light refreshments will be served from 07:30.  

Please note registration will be taken on a first come first served basis. Once the event is booked out, a cancellation list will be in operation. For this reason, please notify Anna Hannigan, Events Coordinator, IoD Ireland, if you can no longer attend the event. Thank you in advance.

Jim Power

Jim Power

Economist and Media Commentator

Jim Power has worked as an economist for over 30 years. He is owner manager of Jim Power Economics Limited, an economic and financial consultancy, which he set up in 2009. Jim was previously Treasury Economist at AIB (1987-1991), Chief Economist at Bank of Ireland Group (1992-2000), and Chief Economist at Friends First Group (2000 to 2018). He is a Board Director of Love Irish Food and is a member of the Institute of Directors in Ireland.

In February 2021, Jim and Chris Johns launched their own Podcast ‘The Other Hand’, which is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. 
Jim is a graduate of UCD and holds a BA and a Master of Economic Science Degree. Jim lectures on the Full-Time MBA at Smurfit School of Business, UCD. 

In 2009, Jim published his first book ‘Picking up the Pieces’, and co-authored ‘Marketing Multiplied’ in 2015. He recently published a book on the SME sector in Ireland with Kinsale accountant Cormac Fitzgerald.

He lives in Dublin and is a native of Waterford.
