Overview

We are delighted to invite you to join our first in-person Briefing of 2023, with Jim Power, Economist and Media Commentator, in The Westbury Hotel, Dublin 2, on Thursday, 23rd February 2023. In this event, Jim will present a session titled the 'Economic Update 2023'.
 
He will discuss the key domestic and international economic and political trends and events that will shape our lives in 2023 and beyond. Please note, there will be a facilitated Q&A after Jim's presentation.

Jim Power

Economist and Media Commentator

Jim Power has worked as an economist for over 35 years. He is owner and manager of Jim Power Economics Limited, an economic and financial consultancy, which he set up in 2009. Jim was previously Treasury Economist at AIB (1987-1991), Chief Economist at Bank of Ireland Group (1992-2000), and Chief Economist at Friends First Group (2000 to 2018). He is a Board Director of Love Irish Food and is a member of the Institute of Directors in Ireland. Jim recently completed the Institute of Directors in Ireland, Diploma in Company Direction.
 
In February 2021, Jim and Chris Johns launched their own Podcast ‘The Other Hand’, which is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. 
 
Jim is a graduate of UCD and holds a BA and a Master of Economic Science Degree. Jim lectures on the full-time MBA at Smurfit School of Business, UCD. In 2009, Jim published his first book, ‘Picking up the Pieces’, and co-authored ‘Marketing Multiplied’ in 2015. In November 2021 he published a book on the SME sector in Ireland with Kinsale accountant Cormac Fitzgerald titled, ‘Smart Tips for SMEs’.
 
He lives in Dublin and is a native of Waterford.

Agenda

Registration will open from 5:00pm on Thursday, 23rd February 2023, with the Briefing starting promptly at 5:15pm, followed by Q&A. Refreshments will be served from 6:00pm to 6:45pm to allow members to network after the event.
