The final Building Better Boards event of 2017 will focus on Governance in Regulated Financial Services Entities. Understanding the specific responsibilities of being a board member in the regulated financial services sector has never been more important. Increased regulation and oversight has added to the challenges facing independent non-executive directors who serve on the boards of regulated entities.

Our panel members for this Building Better Boards discussion are all experienced directors within the financial services sector and drawing on their respective experiences, they will provide an insight into the role of the non-executive director in this environment.

The discussion will consider the assessment processes involved in obtaining regulatory approval to be a board member and the time commitment involved for non-executive directors. Other key topics will include the role of the non-executive director in light of current legal requirements, the role of the Central Bank and other regulatory bodies, and the relationship between executive and non-executive directors.
