Jobs boosts for Wexford and Dublin

Date: 10 January 2011

Up to 100 jobs are to be created in two firms based in Co Wexford and Dublin over the next three years.
Co Wexford-based ClearStream Technologies is creating 70 jobs in a major expansion plan, which is supported by Enterprise Ireland.

The Enniscorthy medical technology company will create the positions over the next three years in product engineering, research and development, manufacturing and sales and marketing.

The company already employs 230 workers who design and manufacture medical devices such as catheters and stents.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation, Batt O'Keeffe, said that the investment is a strategically important boost for Ireland's medical technology sector.

'Already 15 of the world's top 20 medical devices companies are based in Ireland, and as an indigenous firm, ClearStream Technologies is demonstrating an important shift towards higher-end research and development activity in the life science sector,' he added.

And Dublin-based Murex is to expand its operation with the creation of 30 jobs. The French financial software systems developer first opened its software centre in Dublin in 2000.

The new jobs will be in the areas of software development, business development and consulting. The expansion is supported by IDA Ireland.

'The presence and expansion of Murex in Ireland enhances Ireland's position in winning knowledge-led investment and adds to the growing cluster of financial technology companies in Ireland,' commented IDA Ireland's chief executive Barry O'Leary.
