Board Performance Evaluation
How well is your board performing?
Why not find out by undergoing a thorough performance evaluation
Every board needs a regular health check and more and more businesses throughout Ireland are now recognising that evaluating the performance of their board can be of real benefit in determining and improving boardroom practices and procedures.
By undergoing a thorough board performance evaluation, you can provide assurance to stakeholders and potential investors that your organisation is committed to the highest standards of governance and probity.
Good corporate governance makes good business sense, so if you want to increase the efffectiveness and efficiency of your board, it is essential that you first assess how it is performing.
Our service
The Institute of Directors' tailor-made board evaluation service offers independent and objective results, generated entirely from the views and opinions of all board members.
Designed to help your board perform as well as possible, it is a highly effective way of investing in the future of your organisation.
Your board will be evaluated by a highly capable and experienced independent director who will analyse and assess performance using online technology designed exclusively for the IoD. The service is both fast and reliable.
Effective evaluation
As leading contributors to the debate on effective governance, the Institute of Directors has detailed knowledge of best practice standards, codes of conduct and the techniques and processes associated with high performing boards.
Our board performance evaluation service enables you to understand how well your board is operating in key areas including strategy, business principles, risk management and internal control, performance and measurement, stakeholder management, board composition and boardroom practice.
The performance of board committees and/or individual directors can also be assessed, if you wish.
How it works
The service begins with a briefing for your directors on the objectives, process and prospective output of the evaluation. All board members will be then asked to complete an online questionnaire which will address key areas. This will be followed by a report and an option of a debriefing on the outcomes.
The whole board should be involved in reviewing the outcomes of the report, which will acknowledge the board's strengths and identify any weaknesses to be tackled. The report will also raise any varying opinions among directors, thus enabling your board to address and resolve any differences.
